ExJWs & "Adult" Subjects On The Forum
by minimus ini think we have a tendency to get ourselves involved in subjects that might be "r" or worse rated because we couldn't as a jehovah's witness.. any talk or discussion of something considered "wrong" would get you into trouble.. many of us who were brought up in the religion never had any real "normal fun" growing up.
we couldn't associate with "worldly" people and even jws were considered "bad association" if they didn't fit the congregation's ideals.
we couldn't tell an off colored joke.

Another possible explanation for why older JW converts won't leave....
by besty in"dollar auction' theory - it goes like this.... .
the setup involves an auctioneer who volunteers to auction off a dollar bill with the following rule: the dollar goes to the highest bidder, who pays the amount he bids.
the second-highest bidder also must pay the highest amount that he bid, but gets nothing in return.. .

How often did you get donations from the HH in the FS?
by highdose inbecause in my experiance it was once in a blue moon!
even if we did ask/ suggest for money.
most of the contributions put in the box were out of the jw's own pocket.

What I hate most about missing the meetings...
by gutted in...is when people ask why i wasn't there.
usually i tell them, that i was sick, or not feeling well, which for the most part is true.
what is irritating is when someone presses it, especially someone you are closer with in the congregation.

did the quick fade... I Made 100% of the meetings to 0 but got the "we miss you" when I ran into people but just said I miss you back with a smile

Emotional affairs JW style
by highdose ininspirared by another topic.. i wittnessed a number of "emotional affairs" as a jw.
were normaly elders were invovled and although nothing physical happened ( or was found out) there was a definatate emotional connection made by two people who were married to others.
i saw many great flirtations, people who couldn't keep away from eachother too.

I had an emotional affair with an elder who in any other normal lives would have divorced his insane wife. It was more him then me I just liked the attention at the time married to a creap of a husband that didn't notice me. I'd say for me it was good because it woke me up... I realized I deservied to be loved and left my creap ex-husband... of course had to have an affair to divorce a JW but....

I read Hassan's book and i think that has inspired me to help any one i think could be helped... I think in the right time i will encourage her to learn all she can while she can!!! Her family is not shunning her so that may be interesting at some point. We have one A$$ elder that will not let that go lightly.... I guess in the start I will just listen she said she has a lot to say and see where to go from there....

thank you!!! she will listen to me once we get a chance to talk... her family has been suportive she did the adultry to leave her husband thing... but thinks it is the truth.... we are in a rural area and have about 20 in the congregation and i have not been to the KH in 2 years but it is a close congregation just because there is not too many people.... i left my elder JW husband 2 years ago....

concerning "morality" in the congregation, did you ever think "how do we have the nerve to judge "worldley " people ?
by looloo inwhen i was a study , at first i was really impressed with the high morals in the congregation and how "happy "everyone seemed , i eventually fell for a pioneer and commited adultery , which i felt and was made to feel the most wicked woman in the world for .
(i am married to him now ) but after i left i found out just how much had really been going on in the cong , there was one brother who had been having an affair for 5 years with a sister (he was married ) he only got reprooved and she was disfellowshipped !
i found out lots of people who wed in the hall had already done the "deed" child abuse had not been reported etc domestic violence situations , all though i am not in a position to judge "wrong doing " myself im amazed that so many in the cong had the nerve to look down on church goers "immorality " or "worldly people considering what they knew had gone on in the kingdom hall !.
